Those Haze March Madness Pools
The pool for all the games
The minute pool rules
For each round of the tournament, you will have a number for the winners and the losers. The winning number is the number across the top. The losing number is the number on the side. For example, in the first round you may have winner 6 loser 4. If the score of one of these first round games is 86 - 74, then you win for that game.
Each round, you will get new numbers, so make sure to check again before rooting for a score. Also, sorry if you liked your numbers. But those are the rules, I didn't make them up, I just enforce them. Also, its basketball, every number is good, you'll be fine.
Each round, the points scored for having the winning box increase as follows. Please note which pool you are participating in, as the payouts differ slightly in the later rounds:
OG Haze Pool
- First round - 50
- Second round - 100
- Sweet 16 - 200
- Elite 8 - 400
- Final Four - 900
- Championship - 1500
- Reverse of championship - 300
Younger Haze Pool
- First round - 50
- Second round - 100
- Sweet 16 - 200
- Elite 8 - 400
- Final Four - 800
- Championship - 1600
- Reverse of championship - 400
For those confused about "Reverse of championship". Lets say the final score is 78 - 63. This would correspond to winner 8, loser 3. The reverse is winner 3, loser 8. Who ever has the winner 3 loser 8 box gets 300 points.
For this pool, which is only for the championship, you again have 2 numbers. The box will be one team on the top, one team on the side. For example, if the Miami Hurricanes and West Virginia Mountaineers are in the championship, it might be Hurricanes on the top and Mountaineers on the side.
So lets say you have Hurricanes 3, Mountaineers 2. If at the end of the first minute of the game the score is Miami 3, WVU 2, you win for that minute. If at the end of another minute it's Miami 33, WVU 22, you win again.
There are also winners for the reverse of the first half and the reverse of the final score, which includes OT. As an example, if the end of the first half is Miami 43 WVU 38, then who ever has Miami 8 WVU 3 wins the reverse.
For those that are curious how I will determine if the basket scored right before or after the minute, I will be using whatever ESPN says. There is a play by play recap. The score when it is 00 on the clock is who wins that minute. So let's say a player scores a basket to make the score Miami 25 WVU 24, and ESPN says that basket was at 12:00 left in the first half, the winner of that minute is whoever has Miami 5 WVU 4. If you disagree with that I'm sorry, but you will get over it eventually.
